Idil Oumalker Kalif is a consultant/sociologist, she is the founder of Ayeeyo Podcast, and has been a youth advocate for over 2 decades. She has worked within various community and public organizations. Born in Djibouti and proudly raised in the Petite-Bourgogne neighbourhood, she has lived in Quebec for over 35 years.
With strong African/Black and diasporic identities, Idil continuously studies issues related to systemic racism on an international level, immigration, and improving the quality of life for marginalized communities worldwide.
Idil is an experienced facilitator and research collaborator who has brought her deep skillset to numerous projects with Archipel. As a proactive professional working with Black/African, Indigenous and diverse populations, her professional perspectives as a community worker, director and sociologist are especially driven by the story of her own unique diasporic journey.
A former collaborator with the Research Chair on Social Inequalities and Life Journeys (Université de Montréal) and founder of the Black Muslim Women’s Collective in Quebec, she supports efforts aimed at deepening understanding of anti-Black racism, sexism, and/or Islamophobia, both in Quebec and beyond.
Her heartfelt commitment to marginalized communities is especially evident in her series of targeted and pragmatic actions, always grounded in fieldwork, research, and organizations to ensure a truly positive collective impact.
