Mahnaz Talebi-Dastenaie holds a Ph.D. in General Linguistics. Her passion for researching endangered languages and learning new methods of documentation and archiving led her to pursue a second Ph.D. at Carleton University, focusing on Language Documentation and Revitalization in 2022.
She is dedicated to investigating language diversity in Iran, with a specific focus on Barzoki, an endangered language variety in the Central Plateau group in the heart of Iran and has been volunteering with the Atlas of Languages of Iran since 2015.
Mahnaz’s enthusiasm for working with different cultures has further motivated her to collaborate with the Torwali community to develop a language distribution map for this endangered language in Northern Pakistan.
Highlights
Mahnaz is also currently volunteering with the Atlas of Languages of Iran, helping newcomers settle down and adjust to their new environment.
